Exploring the link between self?regulated learning and learner behaviour in a massive open online course

چکیده
Background Learners in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are presented with great autonomy over their learning process. must engage self-regulated (SRL) to handle this autonomy. It is assumed that learners' SRL, through monitoring and control, influences behaviour within the MOOC environment (e.g., watching videos). The exact relationship between SRL learner has however not been investigated. Objectives We explored whether differences related a MOOC. As insight could improve our understanding of influence on behaviour, help explain variety online be useful for development successful support learners. Methods learners were grouped based self-reported SRL. Next, we used process mining create models activities. These compared groups Results conclusions Four clusters emerged: average regulators, seekers, self-regulators, weak regulators. all closely followed designed course structure. However, also showed which linked scores clusters. Takeaways study shows may part variability behaviour. Implications design interventions include necessity integrate regulators

Exploring the link between language anxiety and learner self-management in open language learning contexts
Learning a language is said to implicate self-concept in a way that does not occur in other disciplines, and to entail a particular kind of anxiety related only to language situations (see Gardner & Mac Intyre, 1993; Horwitz, Horwitz & Cope, 1986, 1991). To date, however, research into affective learner variables such as anxiety, self-confidence and motivation and their impact on learner perfor...

We present results from two treatment / control experiuments in the 8.MReV: Mechanics ReView massive open online course (MOOC) run on edX.org during summer 2014. We compare the efficacy of physics homework problems: (1) traditional physics problems involving many skills, (2) deliberate-practice activities that train individual skills using the drag-and-drop format, and (3) analogous deliberate ...

متن کاملComparing learner community behavior in multiple presentations of a Massive Open Online Course
Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) can create large scale communities of learners who collaborate, interact and discuss learning materials and activities. MOOCs are often delivered multiple times with similar content to different cohorts of learners. However, research into the differences of learner communication, behavior and expectation between multiple presentations is scarce. This is of im...
